@chu@climatejustice.social I have the Classical and Medieval Chinese dictionary extension in my Pleco, which focuses on Tang and earlier, and one of its definitions for 包 is "measure word for round items, e.g. fruit". I reckon that meaning evolved quite naturally into "bun" without any need for external influence.

If I didn't have to give google such a big chunk of it, I would so happily buy these pleco extensions just to give the pleco guy some money.

@chu@climatejustice.social It is possible, if a little bit clunky, to buy them directly without going through Google. When you're behind the GFW it's basically the only way to do it. https://www.pleco.com/products/pleco-for-android/how-to-purchase/
